Underwater Imaging LIDAR

SA Photonics is developing MILOS, a Modulated Imaging LIDAR Optical Source and receiver.  MILOS can be used on airborne or underwater platforms, providing the ability to image underwater objects, even in turbid coastal water where SONAR may have limitations.  The ability to RF-modulate its optical beam precisely enables imaging and determining texture of underwater objects.  The fundamental operation of MILOS in water of varying turbidity has already been demonstrated.
