SA Photonics has developed a state-of-the-art fast steering mirror control system. This system is capable of 5 micro-radian accuracy at update rates of up to 1 kHz, all using a mirror sense system with no moving parts.
The speed and accuracy of SA Photonics’ fast steering mirror sense and control system enables it to be used in optical beam pointing applications, where it has ten times better pointing accuracy when compared to current approaches, and provides a five fold improvement in steering speed.
The very high bandwidth control loop allows our mirror control system to be used as a jitter control system for laser communication. This jitter control system cancels out vibration in space or airborne platforms to ensure high bandwidth connectivity between assets such as satellites and UAVs.
