SA Photonics MFPM is a general purpose Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based hardware platform, designed to facilitate the integration of high speed optical and electrical signals in a robust mechanical package. The MFPM platform is built around a Xilinx Virtex-II ProTM FPGA. The versatility of the MFPM is derived from both the inherent feature set of the Virtex-II Pro FPGA and the variety and number of SA Photonics direct-drive I/O channels available. These features allow the MFPM to excel in high-speed optical, high-speed electrical, large parallel bus, or microprocessor based designs. The direct-drive nature of the I/O channels means that this device is inherently radiation hardened, with no internal ICs necessary besides the already radiation hardened Virtex-II chip.
